The Allie in Her 20s Podcast
I push the line. Rather, I dance on it, leap over it, skip past it, and follow the double yellow lines.
In ninth grade, I started writing in a little teal journal about a boy who didn’t like me back. This quickly evolved into me using the journal’s blank pages to find unexplored versions of self. The journal was a place I controlled. The script I wrote was was a balance of comfort and challenging comfort. Writing in this little teal journal eight years ago was the start of me writing my own line. Now, many filled journals later, I am bringing the conversation online.
I started journaling to find comfort, and while a white page is a forever friend, I’m trekking towards growth. My 20s are for harnessing the beauty in discomfort. The Writing the Line podcast is a breathing version of what it means to live through a lens of exploration, discipline, celebration.
My three favorite times to record
- Mid-morning after I’ve had my first cup of coffee
- Around 5pm as the sun starts to fall behind the houses across the street
- After 10pm, when I’ve had candles on so long that the house smells warm and a glass of red wine next to my podcast microphone
